Lucinda

An enchanting seaside hamlet with population of about 800, Lucinda has most of the facilities you will need on your holiday. There is a well provisioned shop (including petrol and ice), Post Office, Hairdressing Salon, a hotel, and Morley's Seafood selling fresh seafood and bait. There is also a licensed restaurant at Dungeness, near the boat ramp. Along the beachfront, there are parks with sheltered picnic tables, gas BBQs, walking tracks and other facilities. A stinger net is maintained through the warmer months.

Halifax

Halifax is a small village just 9 km from Lucinda. There is a small supermarket, butcher, BP service station, newsagent, 2 hotels and hardware.

Ingham

Ingham is a thriving regional centre with supermarkets (Coles and Woolworths), coffee shops, restaurants, tourist information centre, hotels and lots more. 60% of the population is of Italian descent so there is a diverse range of shops, restaurants and delicatessens to make life more interesting. A major attraction in May is the Australian Italian Festival.

National Parks

Lucinda is the southern gateway to the Hinchinbrook Channel and Hinchinbrook Island. Day trips, island transfers and guided channel safaris are available from Hinchinbrook Wilderness Safaris. For the experienced bushwalker, the Thorsborne Trail traverses the eastern coast of Hinchinbrook Island, with access from Lucinda in the south and Cardwell in the north. The trail is 32 km long and usually takes at least 3 days. Access is restricted to 40 people at any one time so you will need to contact NPWS if you wish to do this walk.   Inland from Lucinda, Lumholtz National Park (including Wallaman Falls), Paluma Range National Park (Jourama Falls) and Broadwater State Forest are recommended destinations for a day trip.   For further information on the region visit The Great Green Way website.
